Suzuki Wagon R AMT

Suzuki will soon introduce an AMT (automated manual transmission) variant of the Wagon R in the Indonesian market, but prices of the car have already found their way on dealer shores.Suzuki have launched the Wagon R AMT in Indonesia. This car is making its way down to the Indian showrooms, expectedly in a couple of months. The Suzuki Wagon R AMT is available in the same spec-level as the Stingray in India.


 In Indonesia shortly and the demo cars have already reached dealerships. The local media report that prices have been revealed to dealerships. The self shifting city car is priced between 113 Indonesian Rupiah (around INR 5.5 lakhs) and 121.5 million Indonesian Rupiah (around INR 5.92 lakhs).

                      

The Wagon R Stingray which is called as the Wagon R GS in the Indonesian market is identical to its Indian counterpart with the same 1.0-litre K-Series petrol motor which generates 68 PS and 90 Nm of torque. The AMT or AGS (Auto Gear Shift) in Suzuki’s terminology is the same Magneti Marelli-sourced 5-speed unit that is also found in the Celerio and Alto K10.


The Wagon R AMT will be sold in three variants: GL, GX and GS. Prices range from 113 million IDR to 121.5 million IDR (INR 5.51 lakhs to INR 5.92 lakhs), which when compared to the manual variant is a modest premium of 8 million IDR (INR 39,000).


Apart from the usual facelift changes, the new Wagon-R will get some interesting new pieces of tech. First is the ‘Idling Stop’ technology which is nothing but auto engine start / stop feature which turns off the engine while idling at a signal, hence saving fuel. Also, the new model will feature AMT which has gained popularity in the Indian market very fast compared to conventional automatics.
