Mercedes Benz CLS-Class

The Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is a four-door luxury sedan with a swooping roofline. In the process, Mercedes-Benz filled in a void in the luxury sedan market which made the CLS-Class quite popular. And why not, as the CLS with its frameless doors, sleek boot lid, tail lamps in the shaped like a scalene triangle and low roofline makes the car stand out of the crowd rather well. While the car’s large front grille with the big three pointed star mounted in the centre and the DRL equipped swept back headlamps grab eyeballs everywhere.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS is a four-door mid-size luxury coupe originally launched in 2004 and based on the W211 E-Class and was internally designated as the W219. The second generation CLS-Class was introduced in September 2010 and production started in the beginning of 2011.

It doesn't scream "look at me." It says "let's drive."
It's sleeker than ever, yet more elegant. More substantial in size, space and safety, yet lighter and more nimble. From the Star in its grille to the sculpture of its taillamps, it's a shape that says there's a new benchmark for luxury sport sedans. And in both luxury and sportiness, the experience upholds everything its style promises.

The C-Class is currently offered in a single C200 CGI variant which is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine which churns out 181bhp and 300Nm of torque. The engine powers the rear through Mercedes-Benz’s tried and tested 7G-TRONIC PLUS gearbox. It accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds with a top speed of 235kmph. Drivers can choose between Comfort, Economy, Sport, Sport+, or Individual driving modes, which adjust the engine, transmission and steering characteristics. We expect the diesel variants of the C-Class to be launched in March 2015.

The new C-Class is currently positioned above the new GLA-Class in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. It rivals the other luxury sedans like the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and the Volvo S60. Jaguar has also revealed its intentions of bringing the new XE sedan to the Indian market, which will also compete with the C-Class.

Honda City

A few years ago, if you were in the market for an efficient family sedan, an automatic variant would most likely not make it to your wish list. Because ATs back then were considered too expensive to buy and maintain, and were known to drain the fuel tank faster than a manual car. Plus, they weren’t too involving to drive, and were lethargic when it came to outright performance.

The new Honda City, however, is finally here, and in the ‘right’ spec. Sure, the diesel is efficient and the CVT automatic is convenient but none of them can quite match the charm of that fabulous 1.5 petrol engine run through a manual gearbox. But it is important to remember you can bag yourself a City for much less. Manual versions of the petrol start at a relatively affordable Rs 8.93 lakh, and though the base version lacks basics like an audio system and an airbag for the front passenger, the SV MT is much better equipped and much better value at Rs 10.39 lakh.

The outgoing Honda City had come under fire from certain quarters when it launched in 2009 because of some of the cheap plastics used in the interior, most notably the AC controls. Honda has now ensured that they haven’t repeated that error – the City’s interiors have undergone an update and it is a very comprehensive one. As you get into the driver’s seat, you will notice the way the centre console is angled prominently towards the driver.

Audi RS7

The Audi RS7 is a sportier version of the A7 sedan. Introduced at the 2013 Detroit Show it gets the German automaker’s understated looks, but has sporty overtones in the form of aggressive bumpers and the RS badging. This is one of the first times that also that Audi has more than one model in its range with the RS badging.

We called the RS7 “Quattro's best work yet,” in a recent comparison test, which it won. The car is now even better. For 2016, the Audi RS7 sees subtle upgrades inside and out, much like those that apply to its stablemates, the A7 and the S7. The RS7 already was the freshest of the trio, having arrived here for 2014, so these changes are even less obvious.

The RS7 is yet another extension of that plan. It’s designed to offer the performance and capabilities of the RS6 Avant in a sleeker, more desirable coupĂ©-looking bodystyle.

The Audi RS7 sportback’s party pieces are the engine and underpinnings. It is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged TFSI V8 engine that churns out 560bhp and 700Nm of torque. The mill has been mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and power is delivered to all the wheels via the Quattro four-wheel-drive system.

With the RS6’s powertrain underpinning the body of the A7 Sportback, Audi has created a four door, four-seat hatchback with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, eight-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive.

Never silent, the RS7 is nevertheless easily maneuverable and controllable on the street. Step up the pace, and it exhibits remarkable agility. The torque-vectoring rear sports differential is almost overly eager to help the driver throw the RS7 into corners; it can feel a bit artificial at times. Way up at the limits of adhesion, the powertrain, sports differential, and assistance systems have to work overtime and can no longer disguise the big hatchback's mass.

Audi TT

The new generation Audi TT is built on the highly flexible Volkswagen MQB platform. It comes with a turbcharged petrol engine and the legendary Quattro all-wheel drive system that in combination with the six-speed dual clutch gearbox make the baby Audi sportscar a fun Coupe to drive.

Continuing with its quest towards adding more cars from its global line-up, Audi has brought the new TT Coupe to India. A famed design icon, this new generation of the TT has been highly improved in terms of driving dynamics. While the previous generation models weren’t exactly the first choice of enthusiasts, the latest generation TT promises a lot with its dynamic new chassis technology and potent engines.

The highlighting bit inside the new TT Coupe is the state-of-the-art ‘virtual cockpit’, which displays most of the information through a 12.3-inch display located behind the steering wheel. The latter boasts of a flat bottom design and also gets paddle shifters. In terms of features, the new TT can be equipped with Audi’s MMI infotainment system, Bang & Olufsen sound system, climate control, powered seats, electric mirrors and lots more.

The new LED lights labelled as Matrix Beam, use sensors and an inbuilt camera to detect tail lamps, head lamp beams from oncoming traffic and ambient lighting to produce the right spread and reach to give the driver maximum visibility. It also dips automatically, doubles up as adaptive lights around bends and gives the new TT great visual presence. The gapingly large grille and purposeful looking huge air intakes as part of the front bumper further add to the visual drama.

Volvo New XC90

Hey guys lets review the latest Car "Volve New Xc90" Volvo unveiled its second generation XC90 in August last year. The volvo XC90 will be priced in the range of Rs 56lakh($87684.97) to 72lakh ($112737.82) where it will compete with the Audi Q5 and the Range Rover Evoque. The company aims to sell four-hundred units by the end of the year

Volvo's commitment to thoughtful design, both inside and outside of the XC90, is evident even at a casual glance. The exterior reads as solid and fairly simple relative to modern body panel surfacing, but still playfully evokes some of the wagon shapes that made the company famous.

The Volvo XC90 will be offered in two diesel engines in two variants D5 Momentum and D5 Inscription. Both variants are powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre mill that produces 22bhp and 470Nm of torque. The only gearbox option is an eight-speed AT and an AWD system. Volvo has also hinted that next year it may bring the T8 hybrid petrol version if there is sufficient demand.

Volvo has always been well-known for safety, but the company has made the bold statement that the new XC90 will be the safest model it has ever made.

Volvo studies real-world crashes more than crash tests and works hard to make cars that avoid them or protect against them. They really do think no-one will be killed in a new Volvo in 2020 - the reduction in casualties since about 2010 has been on the right path.

The XC90 has a vastly solid cage, and a panoply of active avoidance systems, some unique. Even the 12-year-old outgoing XC90 still tops lots of safety lists.

The new Volvo XC90, traditionally the official car of middle-class Cotswold families. That said, prices are no longer for the squeezed middle, as the XC90 has moved up a level. But as we'll see it has worked hard to justify the increase: the second-gen XC90 isn't new as in ‘somewhat updated'

Suzuki Wagon R AMT

Suzuki will soon introduce an AMT (automated manual transmission) variant of the Wagon R in the Indonesian market, but prices of the car have already found their way on dealer shores.Suzuki have launched the Wagon R AMT in Indonesia. This car is making its way down to the Indian showrooms, expectedly in a couple of months. The Suzuki Wagon R AMT is available in the same spec-level as the Stingray in India.

In Indonesia shortly and the demo cars have already reached dealerships. The local media report that prices have been revealed to dealerships. The self shifting city car is priced between 113 Indonesian Rupiah (around INR 5.5 lakhs) and 121.5 million Indonesian Rupiah (around INR 5.92 lakhs).

The Wagon R Stingray which is called as the Wagon R GS in the Indonesian market is identical to its Indian counterpart with the same 1.0-litre K-Series petrol motor which generates 68 PS and 90 Nm of torque. The AMT or AGS (Auto Gear Shift) in Suzuki’s terminology is the same Magneti Marelli-sourced 5-speed unit that is also found in the Celerio and Alto K10.

The Wagon R AMT will be sold in three variants: GL, GX and GS. Prices range from 113 million IDR to 121.5 million IDR (INR 5.51 lakhs to INR 5.92 lakhs), which when compared to the manual variant is a modest premium of 8 million IDR (INR 39,000).

Apart from the usual facelift changes, the new Wagon-R will get some interesting new pieces of tech. First is the ‘Idling Stop’ technology which is nothing but auto engine start / stop feature which turns off the engine while idling at a signal, hence saving fuel. Also, the new model will feature AMT which has gained popularity in the Indian market very fast compared to conventional automatics.

Toyota Camry Hybrid Facelift

Toyota's worldwide bestseller hasn't seen much success in India because it is a CBU, giving it a high price tag. However, quality is faultless, and ride comfort are right up there with the best. The automatic with its four-speed gearbox has fallen behind the competition, which are running upto seven speeds.

Toyota has launched the refreshed Camry hybrid in the India market at Rs 31.92 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The product will continue to appeal to the environment conscious car buyer and in its updated avatar, should find a younger audience base. The petrol variant also gets the update and is priced at Rs 28.8 lakh.

There are a handful of hybrid cars in India; when I say handful, I mean just three. There's the Toyota Prius, Camry and the BMW i8. That's it. So, when Toyota said that there is a facelift coming of the Camry Hybrid, I was a bit surprised. Considering that the segment hasn't really picked up in terms of sales, it was a move that made everyone wonder about the strategy they had.

There are two driving modes to choose from - EV and Eco. The EV mode kicks in if you're stuck in traffic, as it doesn't allow you to go above 40km/h. If you switch to Eco mode where the electric motor and the petrol engine work hand-in-hand with one another, the hybrid systems jigsaw is solved. The result is that you're immediately transported into an evolved and refined driving experience, not to forget an efficient one.

The interiors of the car are also the same as the ones shown on the 2015 Camry facelift showcased at the Moscow Motor Show in August 2014. The car does not get any changes under the hood, the Camry Hybrid will still be powered by a 202 BHP / 483 Nm hybrid system which consists of a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 650 V electric motor generator. The Camry Hybrid does get a 8% increase in fuel-efficiency though, for the model sold in Japan. The model sold in India currently delivers 19.16 KMPL.

Price
The official statement regarding the price is yet to come out but expect it to cost more than the Rs. 25-30 Lakh it does in India, by Rs. 1-1.5 Lakh at the least.l

Hyundai Elantra Faxelift

This is the Hyundai Elantra facelift, and as part of the update, the car gets a few styling changes, a refurbished interior and a little more equipment. But, to spot the exterior changes on the 2015 Elantra, you would need to look really hard.

In a bid to gain its lost ground in the mid-sized sedan segment, Hyundai India is now planning to launch the updated Verna in the country. While the updated Verna, known as Solaris, has already been launched in Russia, the Indian subsidiary of the Korean carmaker will launch it here on February 16, 2015.

The Hyundai Elantra facelift continues to use some bits and pieces from the outgoing car and these include the steering wheel, instrument cluster and the climate-control system. According to the reports, Hyundai has given the audio controls on the rear centre armrest the miss.

There are new L-shaped fog lamps that sit inside deeper enclosures in a front bumper that is more contoured. The only change you’ll see on the sides are the new 16-inch alloy wheels, but move to the back and you’ll find a new rear bumper with a blacked-out lower section, and new tail-lamps whose lighting pattern mimics LEDs.

The engines remain unchanged, of course, and that means a 1.8-litre petrol engine that produces 148bhp and 18.1kgm, and a 1.6-litre diesel engine with 126bhp and 26.5kgm of torque. Both engines can be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox, and Hyundai says the manual diesel’s 22.7kpl ARAI-rated fuel efficiency figure is the best in the segment.
